2 OWN board seats up for election at Jan. 13 meeting

People interested in becoming board members of the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN) are asked to come to the public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 and nominate themselves.
People at the meeting will vote on applicants. The location will be the West Intergenerational Center, 25 N. 20th St.
Two seats, each for three-year terms, will be available because of terms running out. These are the seats belonging to President Joyce Gibson and Vice President Kristine Van Wert.
Gibson represents District 4 (a northerly area bounded in part by King and 19th streets) in the Westside Neighborhood Strategy Area that OWN represents. Van Wert's seat is at-large.
OWN board members are expected to attend the twice-monthly meetings, review development proposals on the Westside, help with special events (such as the annual OWN summer picnic) and “be willing to work for the improvement of the neighborhood,” Gibson said.
Anyone wanting to meet OWN members can do so by attending the group's holiday potluck Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the West Center.
For more information, call Van Wert at 630-2155.
