What do you do?
Mary Sue Voth

Where do you work and what is your title?
I’m the business development officer and branch manager at Canon National Bank.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
The majority of my time is spent getting acquainted with and developing relationships with members of the Westside community and surrounding area. I am a member of and support various community organizations. I also oversee branch operations.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
My 30-year businesss career has been primarily in bank marketing activities, business development and overall management. I have been on the Westside since September 2005.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
The people, i.e. clients, staff, community. My energy comes from building relationships - maintaining and “cherishing” those relationships.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
Time! There never seems to be enough time...Time to do...Time to give...Time to enjoy!
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
The emotional energy needed to manage and interact with people.
What makes working on the Westside special?
The people! I have found the people and community on the Westside to be very genuine – unique – enjoyable – supportive! The Westside is a good place to be!

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
