Mesa Springs to discuss NSA fate Dec. 11

Don Sides of the city Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will meet with the Mesa Springs Community Association Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
The open meeting, which all Mesa Springs residents are encouraged to attend, will be in the gym at Pike Elementary, 2510 N. Chestnut St.
According to Sides, the meeting will focus on the city's plans to phase out Mesa Springs' status as a Neighborhood Strategy Area (NSA), which would mean the eventual end to CDBG funding for public improvements there.
The area still has $100,000 remaining in its fund after work this year that included new sidewalk along Chestnut Street south of Fillmore Street.
“I recommend that you do not miss this meeting, as things will be discussed that pertain to everybody living in this neighborhood,” according to George Gravenstein, the association president, in Mesa Springs' November newsletter.
Mesa Springs is roughly bounded by Fillmore, I-25, Uintah Street and the open area west of the neighborhood.
For more information, call Gravenstein at 260-6687; or Steve Schwartz, vice president, at 635-8486.
