OCCA and HDM – Dec. 11 events coincide

Two commercial organizations supporting Old Colorado City will indirectly combine for an expanded Christmas promotion Saturday, Dec. 11.
The activities will begin at 9 a.m., with the annual Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group. Families are invited to Meadow Muffins, 2432 W. Colorado Ave., to eat with Old Saint Nick until 11 a.m.
The cost is $7 adults, kids $5. For each toy (new or gently used) for Christmas Unlimited that is donated, $2 will be taken off a person's admission cost.
Meanwhile, waiting outside the restaurant will be a costumed “elf” from the Old Colorado City Historic District Merchants (HDM), handing out flyers about a Christmas promotion that day by many of roughly 45 businesses who are members of that organization.
Participating stores will each highlight items priced at less than $10 to help kids find gifts they can afford, explained Nancy Stovall, HDM director.
At noon, Santa is scheduled to relocate to the cabin in Bancroft Park, where he will be from noon to 5 p.m. The White-Bearded One is also scheduled to be in the cabin those times on other Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 19, as well as Dec. 21-23 and noon to 3 Dec. 24. Free photos with Santa are available on all those dates.
