Meet a Westsider:
Backhouse manager at Thunder & Buttons.
What I like most about the Westside is... I like the tree-lined streets and the people. They are diverse and tolerant of one another.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to make it more of a destination for other people of the Springs to come to.
A good movie Iíve seen recently is... ďRaising Arizona.Ē Iíve been renting a lot of older movies lately.
The worst advice Iíve ever gotten was... ďDonít worry about it, everything will be all right.Ē From a former employer . . . and it wasnít.
If I could meet someone famous, Iíd like to meet... Julia Childs. She brought a lot to the culinary culture in the U.S. by getting the art of cooking into the limelight through television.
The next time I travel, Iím going to... Germany, to visit my parents, who moved back there after working and living in the U.S. for 20 years.
My favorite childhood memory is... In 1970, we emigrated to the U.S. on an ocean liner. I saw the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. It was pretty impressive. I thought Iíd see a lot of log cabins. (Iíd watched a lot of Westerns as a kid.)
My favorite fall pastime is... flyfishing and camping. I also like to hike and enjoy the outdoor settings that I can get to in half an hour. Itís more accessible than California, where it takes a couple of hours to get to places like that.
Something good Iíve read is.. ďKitchen Confidential,Ē by Anthony Bourdain. Itís quite realistic. It talks about the soft white underbelly of the restaurant industry.
My pet peeve is... people who are late and unreliable.
If I won the lottery, Iíd... probably keep doing what I am doing now and maybe live a little more comfortably.
