What do you do?
Kim Rosman

Where do you work and what is your title?
I am the owner and operator of About Face Skin and Nail Care.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I offer facials, waxing, nail care and organic products. I also have hand-crafted body products, local artisan jewelry and Colorado-made clothing for sale. I am a sole proprietor, so that makes me responsible for everything!
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
I have been in the industry for more than 18 years and I have lived and worked on the Westside for 8 years.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
I love everything about my job, from my clients to creating product to the artistry of what I do.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
It sure would be great to get a paid vacation and to have a little more space!
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
In this type of business, practical work and continued education are the key. Your training can only prepare you for the technical aspects of skin care or manicuring but to improve on your skills it comes down to diligence and wanting to perfect your skills. You have to get out there and promote yourself and learn about business to succeed.
What makes working on the Westside special?
The Westside is like a close-knit family. We are always looking out for each other. We get great tourists and our locals love shopping local!

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
