‘Candlelight,’ art show at Bear Creek
The Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Road, will hold back-to-back events, free and open to the public, Friday through Sunday, Dec. 4-6.
A press release describes them as follows:
The Bear Creek by Candlelight and Art Show Opening Friday, Dec. 4, from 5-8 p.m., featuring luminaria-lit trails, a violin and classical string-music duo (Cynthia Robinson and Wayne Hammerstadt), refreshments and a first look at the creative works in the weekend art show. Reservations are requested at 520-6387.
An art show and sale, titled “Reflections of Nature,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. Area artists will present “pastels, acrylics, photographs, jewelry, and other art media of nature in Colorado,” the release states. Bear Creek staffer Paula Megorden elaborated that there will be about 165 pieces in all.
Proceeds will support the Bear Creek and Fountain Creek nature centers.
Todd Marts, director of both centers, said the back-to-back Bear Creek events provide an opportunity for people to “come out and support us and enjoy the trails.” County funding cuts last year have reduced the days the center is open (now Wednesday through Saturday), the amount of professional staffing (volunteers have taken over much of the work that hired staff used to do) and the number of special events, “but we try to do a couple every year at each center,” Marts said.
