Meet a Westsider:
Jerry Tolve

Profession/Occupation... electrical designer/engineer (semi-retired.)

What I like most about the Westside is... Historic Old Colorado City – its atmosphere of a mining town and its surrounding neighborhood.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I’ll be glad when Good-will finally moves, and I would like Snow White and similar industries to move to an industrial/commercial park, Academy or Powers Boulevard.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Blown Away” with Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones, because I like action and suspense movies, and I like both of these actors.

I'd like to discover... a cure for rude people and a cure for war.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... my great-great uncle Pat Garrett. Also Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein.

The next time I travel, I’m going... Vacaville, Calif., to visit family. Next year, Washington, D.C.

My favorite childhood memory is... my family, dad, mom and five siblings at home playing cards and spending time together and also just us kids going skiing to Loveland and Winterpark.

My favorite winter pastime is... being outside during and after a snowstorm, especially during the Christmas season and watching the fireworks off Pikes Peak on New Year’s Eve.

Something good I’ve read is... Shakespeare. I also like reading current events, once I get past the crime, politics and mostly negative reporting in the daily, such as new discoveries in our galaxy and human achievements.

My pet peeve is... commercial developers and city planners destroying the historic value of the Westside, i.e. Gold Hill Mesa. Please stop building on Pikes Peak!

If I won the lottery I’d... buy a mountain chalet in the Colorado mountains as my base for fishing, camping, hiking and square dancing activities.
