Meet a Westsider:
Mike Dabroski

Profession/Occupation... owner and operator of All Ways Recycle, a recycling pick-up service.

What I like most about the Westside is... I love being in the foothills area where there are lots of trees, wildlife, hiking trails and amazing places like the Garden of the Gods. Also I enjoy the interesting people, laid- back personality and unique history of the Westside.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I'd like to think that the Westside is the more progressive area of the Springs and think our growth should be more focused on affordable housing instead of new condos and huge single-family houses.

A good movie Iíve seen recently is... ďSuper Size Me.Ē This is a must-see for anyone who is truly concerned about their health and well- being and the impacts of the fast-food industry on the planet.

The worst advice Iíve ever gotten was... I've found that I don't really like to take advice from other people. We all have our own ideas about the world and what we'd like to do in it, and we all have to have our own experiences.

If I could meet someone famous, Iíd like to meet... I'd like to meet John Lennon. He was a pioneer for peace, and I would have loved to talk with him about music, peace, and politics.

The next time I travel, Iím going to... My wife and I are traveling to upstate New York for the holidays to see our families.

My favorite childhood memory is... Riding shotgun in my dad's 48 Willys plowing through heavy northeast snow, watching the road pass by through the hole in the floorboard

My favorite fall pastime is... Watching as nature prepares for winter, working the garden for next spring as the deer munch on the grass and trees in our backyard.

Something good Iíve read is.. ď1984," by George Orwell. Sometimes we need to be reminded of the power and importance of what's going on right in front of our faces.

My pet peeve is... People who feel recycling is just too much of an inconvenience.

If I won the lottery, Iíd... I'd start a comprehensive, staffed recycling and compost facility with a focus on community outreach and education. I would also buy land in the mountains and explore ways to live sustainably.
