Cimarron bridge demo work underway

The demolition of the Cimarron bridge is on schedule and should be essentially finished this weekend, according to city spokesperson Mary Scott.
After about two weeks of preparation work, crews from Lawrence Construction got into the actual demo this week, starting at the eastern end of the span over Conejos Street and the railroad tracks. (Note: Unaffected is the smaller Cimarron bridge just to the west that goes over Fountain Creek.)
Barring unexpected delays, the old bridge should be out by Monday, Nov. 19, allowing Conejos to be reopened to traffic, Scott said.
A slightly wider, more attractive bridge will be built in its place over the winter, with readiness planned for May 15. In the meantime, Cimarron Street remains closed between Sierra Madre Street and the northbound ramps of I-25.
