Volksporting club organizes annual Old Town 'Christmas Walk' Dec. 1

People stroll along the north side of Old Colorado City's 2500 block. Such activity is encouraged (and shopping not discouraged) for the Falcon Wanderers' annual Christmas Walk using Old Town streets and sidewalks the morning of Dec. 1.

The Falcon Wanderers Volkssporting Club will sponsor its annual Christmas Walk Saturday, Dec. 1 along the streets and sidewalks of Old Colorado City.
The non-competitive walking event is open to anyone, with participants encouraged to go “at your own pace,” a press release states.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Westside Community Center, 1628 W Bijou St. There is no charge, but non-perishable food and cash donations are requested for the center-located Westside Cares Food Pantry.
For event participants, the club has prepared courses of 5 kilometers (3 miles) and 10 kilometers (6 miles).
Wheelchairs are not recommended. Leashed pets are welcome, but not inside the Community Center.
The Falcon Wanderers website defines volkssporting as an activity “organized to promote physical fitness and wholesome recreation in a safe environment [and] an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy nature.”
