Meet a Westsider:
Jim Davis

Profession/Occupation... I work for Friend Climate Control. I sell furnaces, air conditioners, humidifiers and related equipment.

What I like most about the Westside is... I like the cheerful attitudes and relaxed atmosphere of business owners and employees on the westside.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I’ve lived on the Westside for 50-plus years. I’d bring back Rogers Bar & Grill, the Silver Spur, the Hide Out pool hall and the original Cy’s Drive-In, where I worked as a kid.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Second Hand Lions,” with Robert Duval and Michael Caine. What a couple of characters with a neat plot. Entertaining too!

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... When a salesman tells me, “Just trust me” (not).

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Justice Clarence Thomas, because he cares about the regular working folks who’ve made this country great.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... Montana to see my oldest son, wife and grandchildren. They live by Billings.

My favorite childhood memory is... Growing up in the real country north of Nashville, Tennessee, in the late 1940s. I met Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff, Little Jimmy Dickens, Red Foley and many other country folk.

My favorite fall pastime is... Helping my wife with her gardening (she’s good) and other outdoor projects.

Something good I’ve read is.. “The Secret,” by Rhonda Byrn. It’s about how to change your life into whatever you want it to be.

My pet peeve is... “Hurry up, get out of my way” type people. Like hornhonkers at the red light and tailgaters.

If I won the lottery, I’d... retire, help out my children, donate to Silver Key and volunteer my time helping needy senior citizens.

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
