A Colorado Springs Utilities project is replacing 300 feet of cast iron water main on 11th Street south of Costilla Street.
The work in the Westside residential neighborhood has closed 11th to through traffic.
The work is expected to be complete by Nov. 10, weather permitting, according to Utilities spokesperson Steve Berry.
The city-owned enterprise has contracted with the Beers and Brock Construction company on the water-line replacement.
In a related curiosity, the 300-foot project area is between Costilla and a two- block, east-west roadway named "Cimarron Street." This Cimarron is over a quarter-mile south of the better-known Cimarron - which is co-named Highway 24 and runs northwest/southeast from/to the I-25 interchange. But a map provides an apparent explanation: The two-block Cimarron is due west of the Cimarron at I-25 (although they don't connect).
