Meet a Westsider:
Mary Congiusti

Profession/Occupation... Before I had to retire on disability, I was assistant manager for 10 years at a dry cleaners (Your Valet). I was the head housekeeper at Garden of the Gods Country Club, a team truck driver for two years and an employee in a local construction office until the owner sold it. Now, I take care of my neighborís son after school and also help with their dog.

What I like most about the Westside is... Everything! It is just a great part of Colorado Springs to live in. The people are awesome, and I love all the old houses and buildings and the fact I can walk anywhere if I choose.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I would stop all the new structures going up on 21st Street and around the OCC area in general.

A good movie Iíve seen recently is... Not sure. I have seen a lot of DVDs lately that were good and itís hard to choose at times.

The worst advice Iíve ever gotten was... That you will never amount to anything in life because you are not smart enough.

If I could meet someone famous, Iíd like to meet... I would like to have met Elvis and his family. But there are a lot of famous people Iíd like to meet.

The next time I travel, Iím going to... I would love to go to Lucca, Italy, where my grandparents were from.

My favorite childhood memory is... playing Barbies and ice-skating at the big park I used to go to as a kid when I lived in Chicago.

My favorite fall pastime is... I love the fall colors and leaves. This year especially, they are so beautiful. I love the smell in the air and the crunching and falling leaves, especially at Bear Creek East where I walk my dogs.

Something good Iíve read is.. the Westside Pioneer. I donít read books much but I like the newspapers and current events.

My pet peeve is... phony and pushy people.

If I won the lottery, Iíd... pay all my bills, buy a house in OCC, help some of my dearest friends, help out as many poor people as I could and maybe invest some in a nest egg for myself.

Meet a WestsiderĒ is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
