What do you do?
Where do you work, what type of business is it, and what is your title? I work at Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co. We sell snacks, trail mixes and candy. I am the store owner. What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for? As the store owner, I am responsible for the day-to-day operations. My main goal is to ensure customer service is “second to none.” I am blessed to have two employees – Theresa Barbera and Jodi Anderson, who have been instrumental in my success. How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside? I purchased the business in November 2014 and have not looked back! Although new to the retail business, I have gained from my customer service experience as the owner of Rocky Mountain Sports Officials and from my military background. What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)? I have the unique opportunity to meet people from all over this world, and that’s why I love this job! People who walk into my store are happy – who can’t be happy walking into a candy-snack store? If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be? Although I love this business, the product, our corporate office and my neighbors, I would like more time off! My wife Rayetta and I work a lot, and I value our time together when we can just relax and forget the rigors of our primary jobs. We both love to travel, and I love to play golf! What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for? I am a horrible basket-maker – that’s why I have a great team who makes our baskets! What makes working on the Westside special? One word – the people! Everyone is willing to lend a hand and provide assistance when needed. This is a very tight community, and I am proud to be part of this amazing group of talented people. “What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer, geared for people who have interesting jobs on the Westside but don't necessarily live here.
