Ranch offers annual ‘Oink’ event
The Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site will celebrate “Everything but the oink!” Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The saying, which started with farmers, ranchers and homesteaders, “sums up the dietary and economic importance of hogs to farmers, ranchers and homesteaders,” the Rock Ledge website states.
In keeping with that, the 1880s-styled, city-owned ranch will offer demonstrations of hogs being processed, and sausage and soap being made. Special assistance will be provided by Zettlemoyer's Custom Meat Processing.
Admission is $8 for adults, with lesser prices for seniors and children.
The ranch parking lot is off Gateway Road at 30th Street.
