LETTER: Bum problem much worse than 10 years ago Oct. 24, 2017My wife just e-mailed me the link to the Westside Pioneer Editor's Desk column, “How to solve the bum problem” (found here). I wanted to drop a line to say thank you for writing that. I think you are on to something. I moved to Colorado Springs in 2006 and immediately purchased a townhome near the police station and old folks home on Weber. I moved away for another assignment in 2011 and just moved back a month ago. The bum problem is much worse than it was when I left! It seems like it will only get worse, so my wife and I are seriously considering turning the house into a rental and buying another home, away from the vagrant problem. I am constantly gone for work and I just don't feel comfortable with nomads lurking around the neighborhood. It annoys me that I have to do this to find peace and that I can't count on the local government to problem-solve this… At any rate, I hope your article falls on ears that can make a change.
