Meet a Westsider:
Alyssa Flett

Profession/Occupation... I’m a preschool teacher at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

What I like most about the Westside is... Wow! There are so many things I love about the Westside: being able to ride my bike everywhere, close to the mountains, laid-back attitude by residents, great neighbors, and small-town feel.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... improving all the rundown/vacant apartments and houses.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Nacho Libre”…I haven't laughed out loud from a movie in a long time!

I'd like to discover... a cure for breast cancer. I have had so many friends affected by the disease, not only the cancer patients but husbands, sons and daughters.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... It would not be anyone famous. It would be my grandparents who I didn't get to know or meet.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... spend Thanksgiving in a cabin at the base of the Collegiate Peaks with my parents, siblings, spouses and children. We are hoping for snow!

My favorite childhood memory is... weekends camping and floating in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks and our yearly ski trips to Colorado.

My favorite fall pastime is... I have a lot of favorite pastimes. I enjoy camping, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, cooking and decorating my home.

Something good I’ve read is.. “My Sister's Keeper,” by Jodi Picoult. What a great book! My absolute favorite book, though, is about a woman who opens a knitting shop and meets several women who are very different from each other, but they become great friends. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. The shop on Blossom Street?!

My pet peeve is... People who are WASTEFUL! “Just throw it away, we can buy more!”

If I didn’t have to work for a year I would... backpack through Colorado, hike all the 14ers, learn to kayak and surf, and train and compete in a triathlon.
