When the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) was confronted with major drainage problems from the heavy rains in August, a benefactor offered to give $2,000 if that amount could be “matched” with donations from others. OCCHS President Sharon Swint said that recently occurred, allowing the drainage fixes, including a cover that was framed in over the stairway to the basement (pictured here). The cover also ends a transient habit of camping there. But for now, plywood has to cover the opening because the Historical Society is short of the funds needed for a solid door. Swint said donations from the public would be appreciated.
