In Memoriam: Bertha Stevenson

       A memorial service will be held for Bertha Ellen Stevenson Saturday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave.
       Bertha, 76, was a long-time area resident. She passed away unexpectedly Sept. 25 in Denver.
       She was best known on the Westside for being part of the family ownership of Van Briggle Art Pottery for close to half a century. She also performed with the Colorado Springs Sym-phony for more than 25 years
       Bertha was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Manitou Springs. Her parents were Welin and Alpha Newton.
       She married the late Kenneth Stevenson in 1953. They had three children, who survive her: Jeffry Stevenson of Richland, Wash.; Craig Stevenson of Arvada; and Kendra Rodriguez of Denver.
       She is also survived by her sister, Helen Snow, of Manitou Springs; and eight grandchildren, She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Rowley.
       In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
