Westside start, finish in charity motorcycle run

Women on Wheels (WOW) will start and end its sixth annual Charity Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on the Westside Saturday, Oct. 7.
An estimated 200 motorcyclists - men as well as women and even some people in cars - are expected to participate in the roughly 100-mile ride through the region, according to Karla Baumann, WOW chapter director.
Riders will start heading out from Western Omelette, 16 S. Walnut St., around 9 a.m., with the last riders scheduled to show up at the final stop (Thunder And Buttons, 2415 W. Colorado Ave.) by 2:30 p.m.
Part of the ride will be along Colorado Avenue and through Old Colorado City. However, not all the riders will be together. Baumann estimated that the largest groups will number 15 to 20 riders at most.
Participants will chip in $10 each, with proceeds going to the Colorado Springs Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
