Red Rock Friends plan geology Talk and Walk Oct. 10, evening workday Oct. 20

A Geology Talk and Walk is scheduled Monday, Oct. 10 at Red Rock Canyon Open Space, from 5:30 to about 7 p.m.
The speaker will be Pikes Peak Community College Professor Mark Izold, who will talk about and then lead a hike to “geologic features related to the Mesozoic history and formation of Red Rock Canyon,” a press release states.
The presentation has been rescheduled from an earlier date by the volunteer Friends of Red Rock Canyon.
Advance registration is necessary, as space is limited, at friends@redrockcanyonopenspace.org or 685-4792.
Also scheduled by the Friends is a “board work evening” Thursday, Oct. 20, for which volunteers are welcome to join the Friends board members for an “evening of routine trail maintenance.” The meeting place is the open space's Upper Parking Lot off Highway 24 at 4:45 p.m.
