Concerns to be aired on Yellowstone buffalo

Concerns about the treatment of Yellowstone National Park buffalo will be presented by Josh Osher, a volunteer with the Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC), Friday, Sept. 29 at the Java Buddha Coffee House, 2820 W. Colorado Ave., from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The BFC claims that National Park Service rangers are following “draconian” policies, including unjustified slaughter and quarantine, that could eventually wipe out the park's free-roaming herd. This is contrary to the Park Service position, as stated on its website (www.nps.gov/ yell), that its policies have helped increase the herd from 2,200 in 1997 to more than 4,000 in 2003.
The BFC website is BuffaloFieldCampaign.org. For more information, call Java Buddha at 633-5282.
