Pikes Peak SuperCross at Bear Creek Park

       A type of cross-county cycling competition is scheduled at Bear Creek Regional Park Saturday, Sept. 23.
       Called Pikes Peak SuperCross, the event is open to area riders of all ages. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the park, located just east of 21st Street off Rio Grande. Participants will be competing for more than $2,000 in cash and prizes.
       The entry fee is $22 per category. Juniors under the age of 18 can participate for free and will race first at 9 a.m. Participants must be members of the American Cycling Association (ACA), or purchase a one-day ACA license.

       The event is a combined effort of Pikes Peak Velo Racing and the El Paso County Parks and Leisure Services Department.
       Elements of Cyclocross include riding a bike, dismounting and carrying that bike over obstacles/barriers, remounting, and repeating the process throughout a short- loop course as many times as possible in the given time.
