‘Miracles’ Sept. 15 at N-P

The seventh annual Miracles in Motion fund-raising gala will be Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Norris-Penrose Event Center from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event will offer a gourmet dinner; a therapeutic riding demonstration; a dressage performance, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event will help Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center (PPTRC) to provide equine therapy at an affordable cost to local children and adults with disabilities.
“For a person with a disability, the back of a horse can easily and painlessly take them places were braces, wheelchairs and crutches cannot.,” a press release explains. “A horse's gait, similar to the human walk, helps to strengthen spine and pelvic muscles, improve posture and coordination, and increase joint mobility and psychological well being, creating an experience that deeply impacts the riders. Riders are often rewarded with enhanced memory, improved concentration, and increased self esteem.”
Founded in 1981, PPTRC is “premier” accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association and is the oldest and largest nonprofit therapeutic riding center in southern Colorado.
