New storage units being built off Ore Mill Road

Additional storage space should be ready for use off Ore Mill Road by Nov. 1, according to developer Mike Craddock of the Craddock Companies.
Construction began last month on the new Midland Greens facility, which will provide another 109 units in four buildings next to the existing Old Mill Self Storage just south of Highway 24.
The new project will consist of four buildings totaling 25,000 square feet on 1.59 acres. Unit sizes will range from 5-by-5 feet to 15-by-45 feet, Craddock said.
Like Old Mill Self Storage, the new facility will have an on-site manager with computerized access during scheduled times.
Over the past several years, Craddock Companies has been developing a mix of office, warehouse, manufacturing and self-storage buildings along the south side of Ore Mill Road.
Another project proposed this year on Craddock-owned land - on the north side of Ore Mill, opposite the storage project and closer to 31st Street - would put in a Rudy's restaurant with gas pumps. An initial submittal to the city last winter was met with various critical comments from City Planning. Plans for a new submittal are being worked on by officials with Rudy's (a Texas-based family restaurant chain), but are not yet ready to go to the city, Craddock said.
