30th Street to be impacted by Utilities’ water main repairs

Beginning Sept. 13 and continuing for the next month, Colorado Springs Utilities will replace old water mains underneath a portion of 30th Street between Colorado Avenue and Platte Avenue.
According to Steve Berry of Utilities, motorists can expect delays and detours during constructions and “are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.”
The work is part of Utilities' Fireflow Improvements Program, which is designed to upgrade the water flow and pressure to fire hydrants and maintain reliable water service to customers, Berry said.
During construction, some customers near 30th Street may experience problems with their service and temporary disconnections may be necessary. If a temporary disconnection is necessary, customers will be notified 24 hours in advance, Berry said.
