Meet a Westsider:
online producer of The Big Something for KRCC.org.
What I like most about the Westside is... the open space and alleys.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I’d like to see Old Colorado City become more of a self-contained shopping district, catering to residents with a small grocery, more inexpensive/ethnic restaurants, a little movie theater and a venue for more arts and culture for young people.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Let the Right One In.” A lot of the traditionally B-Movie genres have been making it onto the A-List. This vampire flick is as much about what makes us human (and despicable) as what makes the girl a vampire.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... to use an unlicensed contractor because he was cheaper.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Herman Melville. Just the most amazing writer and still so readable. I'd love to talk to him about his process and show him what's become of America.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Pueblo (what an underrated town!).
My favorite childhood memory is... my 8th birthday party below Helen Hunt Falls in Cheyenne Canyon.
My favorite summer pastime is... bike riding (all seasons)!
Something good I’ve read is.. “Blood Meridian,” by Cormac McCarthy. Certainly the heir to Herman Melville, where storytelling and language are concerned. This book takes the Western, guts it and turns it into a seven-course meal.
My pet peeve is... under-informed people with strong opinions (myself included!).
If I won the lottery, I’d... rebuild the Burns Theater in the parking lot at the corner of Cascade and Pikes Peak and pay for all bike lanes in the city to be properly connected and painted.
