A few numbers in the Westside Pioneer's city budget story Aug. 27 [“Rock Ledge Ranch, West Center in city budget sights”] got snarled.
Here is a corrected scenario: The city mill levy is currently 4.279. The council-proposed increase would be 6 mills the first year (2009, to be collected in 2010), plus 1 mill each year after that through 2013. So the total increase, if approved by city voters Nov. 3, would be 10 mills, putting the mill levy at 14.279 in the year 2013. The mill levy increase in the first year (2009, collected in 2010) would be 6 mills. The resulting increase in annual property tax revenues to the city would be $27.6 million the first year and $46 million the last.
