Stansfield to talk on ‘Doctor at Timberline’ Sept. 10

Professional storyteller John Stansfield will discuss “Doctor at Timberline” Friday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St.
The title is taken from the book by that name by Dr. Charles Fox Gardiner, a frontier physician in Colorado and the Pikes Peak region in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
According to Jo Cervone of the Old Colorado City Historical Society, Stansfield's talk is based on Gardiner's book, which was first published in 1938 and republished by the Pikes Peak Library District two years ago.
Stansfield is also a UCCS faculty member and Colorado Chautauqua speaker.
There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The doors to the center, which include a museum and bookstore, will open at 10:15 a.m.
