What do you do? ....
Marcia Frye

Where do you work and what is your title?
I work at "Ladies Fitness Etc.". I am the owner and a Certified Fitness Trainer.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I am responsible for training new members, setting up new memberships, marketing, purchasing, and first and foremost attending to customer service. Basically, I work to keep the center running smoothly.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
I have been active in health and fitness all of my life. I started in the early 80's running 5k's in Colorado Springs while I was training for my goal to run the Triple Crown. I am also an avid mountain biker. My fitness center is located on the Westside and we have been in operation for 5 months.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
I enjoy meeting all types and ages of ladies (we have them from 15-81). I enjoy watching and encouraging them to work toward getting healthier. We have all fitness levels with different goals. Some want to lose weight and inches while others want to maintain so they look great for a special occasion.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
The one thing I would like to change is the acoustics in the building.
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
Even though I have had accounting; I am grateful for "Quickbooks" and my bookkeeper.
What makes working on the Westside special?
The westside has a real sense of community and yet a small town feel. More often than not, ladies recognize other members they know while working out. It's a great place to meet new friends too.

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
