Gold-mining presentation at History Center Sept. 10
A presentation on gold-mining will be presented at the Old Colorado City History Center at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10.
The featured speaker will be Jan Mannon, manager of community affairs for the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Co., who will discuss the history of the mining district and how it has changed with modern gold-extraction methods.
Operated by the volunteer Old Colorado City Historical Society, the History Center is in a converted church at the corner of West Pikes Peak Avenue and 24th Street.
The center will open at 10 a.m. for coffee and museum visits. The program is free and open to the public, although donations are welcome.
