What do you do?
Where do you work and what is your title?
City of Colorado Springs City Engineering. I’m a civil engineer.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I work in the subdivision Engineering Review Depart-ment. I review development plans and associated engineering reports and documents. I look at the drainage and geological hazard reports and assess whether changes are needed before they are accepted.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
Fourteen years, 1½ here on the Westside. My supervisor and I were assigned the Westside and the southside areas of Colorado Springs.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
I like being a part of the development (new and old) of the Westside. The Westside has a lot of character and charm, and the people are very real.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
I can’t think of anything I’d change at my job. However, if I could change anything on the Westside, I think it’d be great to see the trolleys back on Colorado Avenue.
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
Working full-time and being a single mother.
What makes working on the Westside special?
I like the Westside because of the unique homes and businesses and the people. I’ve lived here for five years now.
“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
