2 Cub Scout packs get active

       Two Westside Cub Scout packs are getting busy with the start of the school year.

       Pack 6, centered around Howbert Elementary, volunteered in a civic way Aug. 22 in the Pleasant Valley area, cleaning trash in the 31st Street ditch, painting the Howbert School pedestrian bridge and curbs, picking up trash around Howbert and pulling weeds in the school's Legacy Garden. The pack's cubmaster is Cris Johnson, with a contact number of 329-1108.
       Pack 24, based at the new West Elementary, is meeting Wednesday nights and planning a “raingutter regatta” in September, according to leader Kathy New. She can be reached at 520-2140.
