Meet a Westsider:
Yolanda Martinez

Profession/Occupation... courtesy clerk at King Soopers.

What I like most about the Westside is... it’s peaceful and there is access to many stores.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... people in vehicles are not considerate towards wildlife. We’re in their domain and should slow down for them.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Walk the Line,” about Johnny Cash.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “Trust me.”

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... I’d like to have met Princess Diana because she seemed to have been down to earth and had the same problems as we do even though she was royalty.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... Aldephi, Maryland to visit my older daughter and to see where she lives.

My favorite childhood memory is... Christmas. We always had very good Christmases growing up. I remember my Dad (who worked for a copper company) would bring home a box of chocolates for each of us (eight children). It was wonderful!

My favorite spring pastime is... yard sales and flea markets.

Something good I’ve read is.. “Where the Heart is,” by Billie Letts.

My pet peeve is... tailgating and people at check-out lines that get too close.

If I won the lottery, I’d... I’d buy each of us (my daughters and myself) a house.

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
