Temporary removal of Manitou's arch to detour avenue traffic Aug. 29

On Tuesday, August 29, there will be a full closure of Manitou/Colorado Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m. from Columbia Road to Beckers Lane to allow the temporary removal of the overhead “Welcome to Manitou Springs” arch sign.
Detours for through traffic will be via El Paso Boulevard, with access at Columbia Road and at Beckers Lane.
According to a press release, the sign is being taken down for the reconstruction of Manitou/Colorado Avenue and improvements to underground utilities. Traffic will be detoured along Beckers Lane, El Paso Boulevard and Columbia Road during the removal.
The sign will be refurbished and reinstalled in the spring of 2018 approximately 8 feet from its current location along with new landscaping “to enhance the entrance to Manitou Springs," the release states.
