Coronado duo win State Games gold
Members of Coronado's volleyball team, Contreras and Rotunda had also won the event at last year's State Games, which was Colorado-only.
Volunteers are needed for a workday Saturday, Aug. 22 to erect pole fencing and hitching posts by the equestrian parking area at Red Rock Canyon Open Space's 31st Street trailhead.
Going from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the project is being organized by City Parks and the Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC).
“The improvements have been scheduled for some time, but due to budget constraints have never been implemented,” according to Vince Cloward. TOSC program director. “But now, thanks to a generous grant from the Roundup Riders of the Rockies and help from local volunteers, the improvements are being realized.”
Plans call for installation of approximately 300 feet of wooden two-rail fence and two hitching rails for horses. Volunteers are encouraged to wear work boots and bring sunscreen and a hat. Gloves, water and lunch will be provided.
Advance registration is requested by contacting Sarah Bryarly with City Parks at 385-6522. Space is limited to the first 15 registrants.
