Dirt work to increase the amount of air
About 15 volunteers with the Medicine Wheel bicycle group repaired portions of the free-ride cycling area at Red Rock Canyon Open Space during an Aug. 7 workday. Upgrades were made to the skills park “corral” (an area enclosed by a split-rail fence near the main parking lot) and dirt jumps on a hillside trail going up from it (shown above). “The teeter totter is now back in action, the rest of the wooden structures have been fine-tuned, and the dirt jumps have been honed to give a great ride,” workday organizer Jim Schwerin reported afterward. The free-ride area is open to the public at no charge.
