Highway 24 meetings postponed again – to January 2005

Public meetings on upgrading Westside Highway 24 have now been rescheduled to early 2005.
“We're probably looking at January or February,” said Bob Wilson of Wilson & Company Engineering, which is working with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) on the planning process.
This is the second postponement. Early this year, CDOT had announced that public meetings would begin in April or May. When April came, late summer had been predicted. The goal is developing plans that (pending funding availability) would lead to construction of the segment between I-25 and Manitou Springs as early as 2007. Among the discussion items are expected to be the addition of traffic lanes and grade separations at one or more intersections.
Wilson said that as a result of CDOT's effort in developing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for federal review on the proposed I-25 widening project, “the schedule is moving slower than anticipated.”
