How deep is your love for professional cycling?
You're an avid bike rider and a big racing fan, so just watching the USA Pro Cycling Challenge isn't enough?
Well, OK then, if your pockets are deep enough, the Pikes Peak Cycling Society, which helped bring about the Prologue in Colorado Springs, has a couple of pre-race offers for you.
The first is scheduled Friday, Aug. 19. For $495, according to the offer on the society's website, you can “escapade through the Garden of the Gods and along the USA Pro Cycling Challenge Prologue course with some of the biggest names in cycling,” including “several professional cyclists who will be competing in the 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge.” The escapade also features a “VIP cocktail reception with your fellow riders, champions and special guests at the Carriage House Museum at The Broadmoor.”
Another possibility is being offered on the day of the race, shortly before the event itself. This one costs $750. It's called the Colorado Springs Prologue Time Trail Experience - “your chance to be one of a very limited number of amateur athletes who will participate in a once in a lifetime experience and race head- to-head with the world's top professionals!” the Cycling Society website states. “Experience the same precise timing as the pros, the cheers of the crowds lining the course, and professional officiating... Compare your time against the professionals!”
According to the website, proceeds from both activities will go to the Pikes Peak Cycling Society “to help support the costs associated with attracting and hosting the Prologue of the 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge.”
