Meet a Westsider:
Gail Ethier

Profession/Occupation... Possibilities program processor – a day program for developmentally disadvantaged adults through Goodwill.

What I like most about the Westside is... the people and perfect location. Close to Red Rock Canyon Open Space and Garden of the Gods, with our own downtown in Old Colorado City.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to bring back Rogers Bar and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Replace the LED Christmas lights with lights we can see.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... I try to go to a movie once every 10 years. I went to the Jimmy Buffett concert in Chicago a few weeks ago, and the Stanley Cup was there too!

I'd like to discover... a way for everyone to get along in this country. It seems we’re getting more divided everyday – politically, economically and racially. It’s sort of feeling like the late ‘60’s. We’re going the wrong way.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Kate Middleton. I was a big fan of Princess Diana and Kate is as stylish and fascinating. I’d like to meet William and the royal baby too. Maybe a picnic in their yard.

The next time I travel, I’m going... do a road trip from LA to San Francisco. I want to see Carmel, Monterey Bay and the Ronald Reagan Library. My husband is my favorite traveling companion.

My favorite childhood memory is... going to the beach every day in summer and eating sandwiches with sand in them! My mom told us that’s why they’re called sandwiches and we believed her.

My favorite summer pastime is... walking the trails in Garden of the Gods. It’s an amazing trail system that is maintained beautifully. I have been there every afternnoon all summer and have not seen one piece of litter.

Something good I’ve read is... “Hunger Games Trilogy,” by Suzanne Collins – hard to put down.

My pet peeve is... arrogance.

If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... probably volunteer at the Possibilities program.
