Neighborhood meeting set for Pinery proposal on Bijou hill

A public meeting is scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 12 on a proposed wedding event center at 775 West Bijou St.
The meeting by the City Planning Department will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Clarion Hotel's Bordeaux Room, 314 W. Bijou St.
The center, to be called the Pinery at the Hill, is proposed on a hilltop that has been zoned for restaurants for about 25 years. “The amendment proposes to accommodate an all-inclusive wedding venue with chapel and banquet facilities,” according to City Planning.
The goal would be to make the new facility similar to an existing business called the Pinery in Black Forest, a spokesperson for the project has previously told the Westside Pioneer. On-site events would include weddings, receptions, parties, class reunions and anniversaries, with chef-prepared food on site.
To allow the new use, the Pinery ownership has applied to the city for a major amendment to the site development plan that had been put together by a previous owner of the 2 ¾-acre site.
The application is by Art Klein Construction Inc. on behalf of The Pinery at the Hill LLC.
Representatives for the developer and the city are expected to attend the meeting, explaining the proposal and answering questions.
