Red Rock workday, Bear Creek walk
Volunteers are needed for a trail maintenance project at Red Rock Canyon Open Space Saturday, Aug. 15.
The time range will be 8 a.m. to noon.
Activities will include removing elm trees and “restoring the natural growth,” according to information from City Parks.
Youth participants must be at least 14 and accompanied by an adult.

The Wild Forever Foundation is sponsoring “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” - a fundraising nature hike in Bear Creek Park Saturday, Aug. 15 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Routes of 1 mile and 3 miles are available, with stops on the way to give information about urban wildlife, according to a press release.
The meeting place is the pavilion at the Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Road.
Entry fees for participants, which can be paid or raised by hikers, are $15 for individuals, $30 for families (of four or fewer) and $10 for seniors or active military. The goal is to raise money for the rehabilitation of injured, sick and orphaned wildlife.
