‘Westside Avenue’ stakeholder meeting Aug. 6

       The first Westside Avenue Action Plan stakeholder meeting is scheduled Monday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Westside Community Center, 1628 W. Bijou St.
       People from the study area, including representatives of organizations or business groups, are invited to serve on a stakeholder committee “to help provide a vision for corridor transportation infrastructure improvements,” a press release states.
       Described as a “civil and traffic engineering planning and design study,” the government-funded effort is led by a consultant team headed by the engineering company of Felsburg, Holt and Ullevig (FHU).
       FHU plans call for the stakeholder committee to meet three times in all during the roughly 10-month study duration.
       The first meeting had initially been scheduled June 25, but was postponed because of the Waldo Canyon Fire.
       The FHU committee is one of two groups seeking improvements in the area west of 31st that have “avenue” and “stakeholder” in their names. The other “avenue” group, which involves business and residential leaders and law enforcement officials, is focused on crime control, while FHU's is not.
