Meet a Westsider:
I help our family business, Old Colorado City Surplus, and I’m a youth minister and speaker.
What I like most about the Westside is... being close to the mountains and the great trail systems.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... more large, family-type restaurants that would keep business on the Westside rather than having to travel north and east sides of town.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Iron Man 2,” with Robert Downey Jr.
I'd like to discover... new lakes to fish in.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... President George W. Bush. It’d be interesting to talk to him about the choices during his presidency. Like how he had to handle 9/11 and all the other events that followed. I like the fact that when he said he was going to do something he did. He was true to his word; we could count on that.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Wyoming, on a fishing trip with some childhood friends. We’re going in on horses on a six-hour ride. We’ll be spending a week in the Tetons.
My favorite childhood memory is... spending time in the outdoors with my family and friends. Fishing, camping. Rocky Mountain and Mesa Verde national parks are a couple of the places. I had a great childhood, and that is why I think I like working with the youth in general.
My favorite summer pastime is... camping and fishing.
Something good I’ve read is... “Wild at Heart,” by John Eldridge. It shows a good example of leadership skills for men. Why men should lead in their lives and families.
My pet peeve is... restaurants that serve bad coffee!
If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... do a lot of fishing and spend time with family!
