“The Santa Fe Trail: Then and Now” is the title of a presentation by Mary Stevens Humphreys at the Old Colorado City History Center Tuesday, July 22.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the free talk is part of the annual Old Colorado City His-torical Society (OCCHS) Tuesday Nights in July series. The center is at 1 S. 24th St.
According to an OCCHS press release, Humphreys will share the observations of a person traveling the length of this historic trail in 1821 from Boonville, Mo., to Santa Fe, N.M. - 900 miles and eight weeks away. Special emphasis will be given to the branch of the trail through southeastern Colorado.
Humphreys' interest in the Santa Fe Trail began while teaching in Bent County, where she was able to watch the reconstruction of the Bent's Old Fort in l976.
