Silver Key raises over $11,000 at Summer Fair

Silver Key raised $11,357 in its annual Summer Fair parking lot sale July 10.
Arlinda Thomas, special events coordinator for the non-profit agency for the elderly, said she wasn't sure if it was a record, but that it continues a steady upswing over the past several years. Last year's earnings for the event - which is one of the agency's big annual fund raisers - totaled $10,333, Thomas said.
Donated items on sale in the parking lot at 2250 Bott Ave. ranged from clothes to books to appliances.
Silver Key helps care for more than 16,000 elderly in the region, funded largely through private donations, grants and fund-raising activities.
