Milling, paving on Fontmore, then 8th & 9th

After having replacement curb and gutter installed last winter, Fontmore Road will be treated to milling and repaving of its driving surface.
Funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Au-thority (RTA), work is tentatively scheduled to start Thursday, July 11 and occur between Mesa Road and 31st Street. The contractor is Martin Marietta Materials.
Jeff Briscoe, project manager for the company, estimated that the milling will take a week and the paving a week after that (on a Monday-to-Friday schedule).
Martin Marietta also is contracted for RTA-funded road paving on Eighth, Ninth and Limit streets between Colorado Avenue and Highway 24, where curb and gutter work was done in late 2012. Briscoe said he anticipates crews starting there as early as July 16, with the milling and paving requiring about two weeks total.
Briscoe added that Martin Marietta Materials is a statewide company, which last year took over the business on West Fillmore Street that was formerly named La Farge Asphalt.
