Meet a Westsider:
Jane Ackerman

Profession/Occupation... owner of Second Impressions Designer Consignment Boutique.

What I like most about the Westside is... the community. It’s a small- town feel in a big city.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... that we would have more drop-off mailboxes available. The only one I know of right now is in front of the post office.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “The Secret,” a documentary. It combines the experiences of Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare and Einstein, to mention a few. It is not a new concept. The message brings you back to what’s important and helps people manage their lives in a positive manner. It’s very uplifting.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “This won’t hurt a bit,” and “You’ll be fine.”

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Iyanla Vanzant. She’s a noted author and speaker. She empowers women and helps women achieve a greater sense of self-awareness and self-assurance.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... I’d like to go to Bali, for relaxation, to get away from it all and to recharge.

My favorite childhood memory is... I grew up in Walsenburg and my friends and I would ride our bikes from morning to night in the summer. We’d go to the swimming pool, A&W Root Beer and then to everybody’s houses. Our parents always knew how to get a hold of us. It was never boring and we’d do it all over again the next day.

My favorite summer pastime is... reading outside and going disco dancing.

Something good I’ve read is.. “Best Loved Poems of the American People,” selected by Hazel Felleman.

My pet peeve is... rude people.

If I won the lottery, I’d... pay off all my bills, plan well for my nest egg and donate to reading programs and animal rescues.
