Biz buzz:
New children’s book on rock-climbing uses Garden of the Gods

A recent title in a local children's book series uses the Garden of the Gods to teach kids about rock-climbing.
Author Jeffrey Keller Jr. was signing copies of “Ricky Climbs in Garden of the Gods” at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center June 22. The book, a color paperback, is available in the center gift store.
A Pine Creek High School math teacher, Keller said he chose the Garden for the locale because of its rock-climbing popularity, and “it's right here in the city. It's a wonderful place.”
Included in the book are names of local birds, rock formation history, climbing rules, types of equipment, names of wildlife and Garden climbing routes.
Keller uses a rhyming format. An example is this couplet: “Before we can climb, the rules we must learn/ The Visitor Center is where we now turn.”
Other Ricky books teach about rafting and climbing Pikes Peak.
